Boat Rental FAQ – South Crete

Find answers to common questions about renting a boat with Rodanthi Boats, including no-license rentals, insurance, deposits, cancellations, safety and what to expect before departure from Kokkinos Pyrgos Marina.

Transparency & Responsibilities

Do I need a boat license?

No. Our 30 HP boats can be rented without a boat license. Before departure, our team provides boat instructions, a safety briefing and local route guidance.

Our boats can carry up to 5 people. For a more comfortable experience, especially on longer trips, we generally recommend up to 4 guests.

Our boat rentals depart from Kokkinos Pyrgos Marina, Tympaki 70200, Greece. Our team will meet you there before your scheduled departure.

Our boats include equipment such as a sun tent, speakers, GPS, cooler and snorkeling equipment. Optional extras may also be available depending on your booking.

Fuel is charged according to usage and is separate from the boat rental price. We explain the process before departure so you know what to expect.

No hidden fees — what you see is what you pay.

Our prices include everything: full boat equipment, insurance, coolers, snacks, and water.

If you choose optional extras (like GoPro or lunchbox), the cost is clearly shown during booking.

We check the weather and local sea conditions before departure. If conditions are not suitable, we may recommend changing the time, route or date. You can also check our South Crete weather forecast when planning your trip.

Yes, cancellations and reschedules are possible — we just ask that you let us know as early as possible.

Yes — before departure, we’ll ask you to sign a brief rental agreement and go over a short safety checklist.

It only takes 5 minutes, and it helps ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

Absolutely. You can request our rental agreement, safety guidelines, or full terms any time — before or after booking.

We’re proud to operate with full transparency and happy to share the details with you.

Our insurance covers all standard boating risks and liability — but not everything.

Things like negligence, reckless behavior, or misuse may not be covered.

You can always ask to see the full policy if you want to be sure.

After booking, a detailed document explaining the insurance coverage and rental terms will be sent to your email address.

Yes — before departure, a €500 refundable security deposit pre-authorisation is placed on your card, similarly to standard hotel and car rental procedures.

This is not an actual charge. The amount is only temporarily held on your card and automatically released after the boat is returned and inspected.

Our goal is simply to protect both guests and equipment while keeping the process transparent and fair for everyone.

In the rare case of damage, misuse, or policy violations not covered by insurance, the corresponding amount may be retained or charged accordingly.

We understand accidents happen — and we’re fair about it.

If any item is damaged or lost and is not covered by insurance, you’ll be responsible for its replacement.

We’ve created a simple, transparent cost list you can view any time. Just ask, or check it here.

No need to worry about small scratches from normal use — we won’t charge you.

If there’s major damage caused by negligence (like ignoring depth warnings), you may be responsible for repair costs.

We’ll always be fair and upfront — no surprises.

If something doesn’t go as expected, we’re here to help.

We’ll listen, stay respectful, and always aim for a fair and quick resolution.

Your satisfaction matters — and we take every issue seriously.
