The Red Beach (Kokkini Ammos) is situated just 800 meters south of Matala. To get there, you have to walk a trail that begins north of the settlement of Matala and crosses the hill Kastri north of Matala. After walking 15-25 minutes from Matala and after passing a shepherd’s door, you will see the magnificent Red Beach from above. The view from the hill is great and makes it an ideal spot for watching the sunset.
What to Bring on Board:
To make the most of your trip and stay safe and comfortable, consider bringing:
- Sun protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
- Light snacks & water: Stay hydrated and avoid heavy meals before departure
- Beach towel: For drying off after a swim or relaxing on the deck
- Non-slip shoes: Flip-flops or water shoes if you plan to walk ashore
- Personal medication: Especially if you're allergic, diabetic, or prone to motion sickness
